♡ 54 ( +1 | -1 ) SysFaderHas anyone else had problems with SysFader? I see it come up when I hit control alt delete but when I search on it to delete it the search comes up negative. If I try to open Microsoft programmes from the start menu, there is no response when I click on a programme eg excel, and the list of menus stays on the screen effectively blocking the Gameknot toolbar. The same thing happens with the internet favourites menu.
Has anyone been able to delete this programme. I did it once and it returned and now I cant even find it Thanks
I followed the link which took me to a sit that advised that freeware anti-spyware softwarecould have spyware inbuilt so that by installing what you thought was antispyware you were actually installing spyware.
Then it proceeded to recommend that I install -> www.intermute.com spysubtract and ensure that my copy of spywareblaster was up to date which I did.
I ran spy subtract and it found about 9 spywares that adaware/spybot didnt find. I deleted them. But it didnt find a file called sysfader.
However the problem that sysfader caused has now stopped . Spysubtract must have found it. So I am very grateful
I am afraid that one day they all will conspire and "lock" me out of my PC. :-))
You said that Spy Subtract found 3 that Ad-Aware did not find. That is normal because different SpyWare finds different things [based on the programmer]. So it is wise to run more than 1 spyware program.
I tried out Spy Subtract and really did not like it. Isn't it a 30 day FREE trial period then you have to buy it?
Anyhow, I did buy an antispy program. I bought Spysweeper by Webroot. Since I installed that and have it running on my taskbar it "locks out" just about anything before it is attached. As a result my other programs rarely find a thing.

♡ 46 ( +1 | -1 ) Honolulu I agree with....you but at present I have 2 Pentium IV PCs running. I have tons of MgB storage on 3 hard drives. Both machines have 1GB RAM. Both machines have DVD write capabilty and a lot of other features.
The thing is that both machines cost a little more than 50% than a Mac would cost with less features than what I have.
So I put up with the spammers, the spyware and viruses because $$ for $$ the Windows system is much cheaper than the Mac.

♡ 48 ( +1 | -1 ) Microsoft has recently entered the......spyware removal bandwagon with its own removal tool. The "beta" version and more information can be found at the following link:
-> www.microsoft.com
My folks are using it and I have run it on their computers. It seems to have some nice features and the best thing is that it will work in "real" time as long as you let the applet sit in the system tray...
